William Jefferson Black is a Director of Business Development in the Valuation & Financial Opinions Group. Mr. Black cultivates relationships with public companies, middle market corporations, private equity funds, law firms, accounting firms and financial institutions for the firm s independent financial advisory services. Mr. Black specializes in enterprise and asset valuations for financial reporting requirements related to acquisition activity and for tax purposes. He also works with organizations on goodwill impairment testing studies, option valuations, and transaction support including fairness and solvency opinions, accretion / dilution models, IRR calculations, and target company valuations. Previously, Mr. Black led the economic analysis and industry research practice at RSM EquiCo, a middle market investment bank and business valuation firm. As a Senior Vice President and member of the executive management team, he oversaw a 35-person team that delivered forecasts on industry growth rates, demand drivers, market sizing, risk factors, economic conditions and the competitive environment to determine valuation ranges and support merger and acquisition activity. Mr. Black also founded a 20-person competitive intelligence and marketing analysis group that advises global companies on product strategy, brand differentiation and market segmentation. He began his career at a prominent market research firm in Melbourne, Australia. Mr. Black earned a BA in political economy from the James Madison College at Michigan State University. He is a member of the Executives Club of Chicago and the Columbia Yacht Club. |
