William J. Heiselman is vice president of Operations for the Government Communications Systems Division (GCSD), reporting to the corporate executive vice president and GCSD president. GCSD develops and produces advanced communication and information systems for the Department of Defense and other government agencies and their prime contractors. Prior to being named to his current position, Mr. Heiselman was director of Manufacturing for GCSD Operations. In this position, he supported the division as the management champion of Lean Initiatives, a business philosophy that focuses on eliminating nonvalue-added aspects of the company’s practices and processes. He has played an instrumental role within the Operations organization and has led new continuous improvement initiatives that benefit the division. Mr. Heiselman joined Harris in 1982 as a new grad production engineer on the B-1B program and has held positions of increasing responsibility, including lead engineer and engineering manager. In his current role, he will be responsible for leading manufacturing, materiel, quality, as well as the transportation and test equipment center, test/ evaluation labs and machine shops throughout GCSD. Mr. Heiselman holds a B.S. degree from Ohio State University, and an M.S. from Florida Institute of Technology.
