William H. Trachsel was elected senior vice president, general counsel & secretary in May 1998.
Trachsel joined Pratt & Whitney in 1965 as an engineer, following graduation from the University of Florida, where he was awarded a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering. In 1971, he earned a J.D. degree from the University of Connecticut Law School and joined the corporation's Legal Department at Pratt & Whitney's Commercial Products Division. In 1978, he was named vice president-counsel at the Hamilton Standard unit and in 1979 was named vice president-counsel for UTC's automotive business. In 1983 he was named deputy general counsel at UTC Headquarters and in 1986 he was named vice president and deputy general counsel. In 1993, he became vice president, secretary and deputy general counsel.
Trachsel is a member of the board of directors of Hartford Hospital, the Connecticut Bar Foundation and the MetroHartford Alliance. He is also a member of the University of Connecticut Capital Campaign Steering Committee and the Connecticut and American Bar associations. |
