William H. Hastie was elected to the Company's Board of Directors in 1997. He is a partner in Sanchez Daniels Yokoyama Hastie & Greene, the California office of the nation's largest minority-owned law firm. From 1994 to 1998 he was a partner and Vice Chair of the law firm of Arnelle Hastie McGee Willis & Greene, Los Angeles, California, a Co-founder and managing partner of the law firm of Arnelle & Hastie, San Francisco, California, from 1985 to 1994, and as Undersecretary and General Counsel of California's State and Consumer Services Agency, from 1979 to 1983. Mr. Hastie received his bachelor's degree from Amherst College, a certificate from the University of Strasbourg, and his J.D. from Boalt Hall School of Law of the University of California at Berkeley. Mr. Hastie has been a member of the Board of Directors of the California HealthCare Foundation since 1996, having previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of Blue Cross of California from 1992 to 1996. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Graduate School of Public Policy of the University of California at Berkeley. |
