The Manager of Administrative Services is responsible for managing personnel and training services, the lake services maintenance and construction offices, lake parks and recreation facilities, the vehicle maintenance facility, utility security, the real estate and building management division, and the utility’s risk management programs. The person in this position is appointed by the General Manager and serves at his discretion.
The current Manager of Administrative Services is William G. O’Rourke. Bill, a native of Heyworth, Illinois, earned his bachelor of arts degree in political science from Eastern Illinois University before moving to Springfield in 1974. He has spent his professional life in public service, beginning as an intern to Illinois Secretary of State Mike Howlett. Since then, he has held a number of other positions in both state and local government, including serving as Assistant to the Deputy Secretary of State; Director of the Illinois Court of Claims; Supervisor of Elections for Sangamon County; Purchasing Agent for the City of Springfield; Executive Assistant to Springfield’s Director of Public Works; and Manager of Operations and Purchasing in the Illinois Office of the Comptroller.
Bill is active in several civic and charitable organizations, including the American Business Club, Knights of Columbus, Friend in Deed, and the Sons and Daughters of Erin. |
