William E. Simpson is a special director of LECG in the Los Angeles office. With over 30 years of litigation consulting experience, Mr. Simpson specializes in the investigation of accounting irregularities and the determination of damages. Mr. Simpson has testified on accounting, auditing, business and statistical issues on numerous occasions in both state and federal courts, including in the landmark Equity Funding criminal case.
Mr. Simpson joins LECG from Navigant Consulting, Inc. where he was managing director. Previously, he headed the West Coast forensic & litigation advisory practice of FTI Consulting, Inc. Prior to FTI he was managing partner of Simpson LLP, a firm of certified public accountants specializing in litigation services based in Los Angeles. Before forming Simpson LLP, Mr. Simpson was partner in charge of litigation services for the west region of Coopers & Lybrand (PricewaterhouseCoopers), an audit partner with Arthur Young & Company (Ernst & Young) and a national director at Alexander Grant (Grant Thornton LLP). He was also a regional chief accountant for the Securities and Exchange Commission and an examiner with the California Department of Savings & Loans.
Additionally, Mr. Simpson served on an advisory committee to the National Commission of Fraudulent Financial Reporting. Mr. Simpson holds BS and MS degrees in accounting from California State University, Northridge and a JD from UCLA School of Law. He is a certified public accountant, a certified management accountant and a certified fraud examiner. |
