William E. MacDonald, III is vice chairman and a member of the Office of the Chairman of National City Corporation. He is responsible for National City’s seven-state regional and its national Corporate Banking businesses, the Risk Management and Credit Administration unit, Capital Markets and the Private Client Group.
Mr. MacDonald began his career with National City in 1968 as a management trainee and held a succession of management positions in the branch, domestic and international loan divisions. He served as manager of the London office and headed the marketing division before assuming responsibility for the Retail Banking group. In 1992, Mr. MacDonald was elected president of the Cleveland bank and in 1993 was appointed executive vice president of National City Corporation.
Prior to assuming his current role as vice chairman, Mr. MacDonald was appointed president and chief executive officer of National City’s Ohio bank in 1998 and was named senior executive vice president of National City Corporation in 1999.
Mr. MacDonald earned a bachelor’s degree from Trinity College in 1968 and Master of Business Administration from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University in 1974. |
