Bill Wells is Regions’ chief risk officer and leads the Risk Management Group, which includes the Credit Risk Division, Internal Audit, Risk Policy, Operational Risk, Market and Liquidity Risk, Regulatory Liaison, Corporate Compliance, and Reputation Risk Management.
Before joining the company in December 2004, he served as executive vice president and chief risk officer of SouthTrust Corporation, where he was employed since 1998. He previously was a commissioned national bank examiner with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency serving as examiner-in-charge of multi-billion dollar regional banking institutions. He began his career in 1980 as an auditor with First Columbus National Bank, Columbus, Miss. Bill is a director of Regions Community Development Corporation. He is a 2006 graduate of Leadership Birmingham and earned a bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance from Mississippi State University, Starkville, Mississippi. |
