William C. O'Malley joined Tidewater Inc. in September 1994. Born in Scranton, PA., he earned his B.S. degree at the University of Scranton and completed the Harvard Graduate School of Business Advanced Management Program. Mr. O'Malley is a former chairman of the National Ocean Industries Association. He sits on the boards of Hibernia National Bank, BE & K, American Bureau of Shipping, World Trade Center, United Way and the New Orleans Museum of Art. He is also a Director and former President of the New Orleans Area Council Boy Scouts of America and also serves on the A. B. Freeman School of Business Council, Tulane University Medical Center Board of Governors, and Chairman of the Tulane University Dept. of Medicine Advisory Board. He is also on the Board of Trustees of the University of Scranton.
Mr. O'Malley started his career with Arthur Young & Company. He became a CPA, joined the partnership in 1970, and became a managing partner with responsibility for all Washington offices and services when he left in 1981. He joined Sonat with responsibilities for their offshore drilling business. When he departed in 1994, to join Tidewater, he had taken the company known as Sonat Offshore public in an IPO and was Chairman and CEO. That company is now known as Transocean Offshore. Mr. O’Malley has been a member of Tidewater’s Board of Directors since 1994. |
