Bill Carmell brings more than 25 years of experience in employment law to Ford & Harrison. He has represented American multinational companies in a number of industries including pharmaceutical, banking, consumer products and petrochemicals in high-profile matters throughout the United States. He has extensive experience in Title VII and ADEA class actions as well as single-plaintiff litigation on behalf of employers. He also represents foreign-owned corporations doing business in the U.S., including trading companies, banks, financial houses and manufacturing companies. Prior to joining Ford & Harrison, Bill was a partner in the New York office of Winston & Strawn where he was head of that office's labor and employment law department.
He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America for more than ten years and also is listed in the Guide to the World's Leading Labour and Employment Lawyers. He is a member of the New York State Bar and is licensed to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern, Northern, Southern and Western Districts of New York.
Bill serves on the adjunct faculty of Cornell University's New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations, and has taught for the American Management Association and the Society for Human Resource Management. He has written numerous articles for such publications as The New York State Bar Journal, the ABA Banking Journal, the Employee Relations Law Journal, and Business and Society Review, and had articles published in foreign newspapers and periodicals including The Japan Times and the International Legal Strategy in the Japanese language. He has also lectured in Japan on American employment law issues at the University of Tokyo and for the Nippon Keidanren (the leading employers' federation).
