Dr. Ross is Associate Dean for Diversity, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine, and a Senior Fellow at the Washington University Center for Health Policy. At the medical school Dr. Ross oversees diversity affairs and directs recruiting and clinical outreach programs that promote community-based health care. A board member of MFH since 2004, he has served as Vice Chairman of the Board and is a member of the Executive Committee. He is chair of the MFH Program and Grants Committee and is the facilitator for the Foundation's Health Literacy Initiative. Dr. Ross served as a charter member of the St. Louis Regional Health Commission and chair of the Commission's Health Literacy Task Force from 2004-2007. He is the co-founder of HealthMatters, a local medical newsletter, and is a health care consultant for the St. Louis American Newspaper. He has served on numerous boards including the American Red Cross, ARCHS, and Mid-America Transplant Services and is a past President of the Mound City Medical Forum, an organization of over 150 minority physicians. Dr. Ross earned a B.S. from Yale University in 1980. He received his medical degree and fellowship in kidney diseases at Washington University. He is currently completing a Master's in Public Health at Saint Louis University. In 2005 Dr. Ross received the Ethic of Service Award from Washington University and the Distinguished Community Service in Medicine Award from the Missouri State Dr. King Celebration Commission. Dr. Ross sought involvement with MFH in order to further his work on reducing health disparities. His outside interests are jazz, antiques, and philosophy. |
