Will Irving was appointed Group General Counsel of Telstra on 1 January 2005. Will is responsible for the provision of legal services to Telstra's Board and leads a team of lawyers who provide strategic advice and counsel to business units across the company.
Will joined Telstra in 1997 and headed legal services in a number of business units including Wholesale, International and Infrastructure Services. In 2001 he was appointed Deputy Group General Counsel.
Before joining Telstra, Will was a member of the telecommunications and trade practices (anti-trust) group at leading Australian law firm Mallesons Stephen Jacques.
Will holds degrees in Law (Hons) and Commerce (economics and accounting majors) from the University of Melbourne. He has served on the board of the Australian Corporate Lawyers Association and was Chair of its Professional Issues Committee from 2004 to 2006. In 2006, he was named Australian Corporate Lawyer of the Year. |
