Judge Bowen brings his experience as a former senior trial judge and general practitioner in civil law to the firm s litigation section, where he practices commercial litigation and arbitration. Judge Bowen joined the firm on September 2, 2003, after serving 22 years as a North Carolina Senior Resident Superior Court Judge. During that time, he was administratively responsible for Superior Courts of Harnett and Lee Counties, and for 10 years, Johnston County. Before joining the judiciary, Judge Bowen engaged in the general practice of law for 20 years. There, he gained experience in commercial litigation, commercial transactions, condemnation, contracts, employer-employee relations, wills and estates, zoning, and other areas associated with a general practice. Judge Bowen received both his B.S. and LL.B. (now J.D.) from Wake Forest University in 1958 and 1961, respectively. He received his M.B.A. from Campbell University in 1986. The subject of those trials include, but are not limited to, contracts, covenants not to compete, corporations, construction litigation, condemnation, guaranty agreements, crimes, real property, uniform commercial code, security interests, nuisance, personal property, titles and mortgages, wills and estates, medical malpractice, products liability, unfair or deceptive trade practices, landlord-tenant, appeals from boards of adjustment, and administrative agencies. |
