Wendell Dallas was named Vice President and General Manager of Atlanta Gas Light in September 2006. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations and market development of Atlanta Gas Light. Prior to this role he served as general manager since February 2005.
Dallas has over 15 years of operations, management and engineering experience in the natural gas industry. Dallas joined AGL in 2000 and served as a Service Area Manager in Macon and as a Region Manager for Southeast Georgia in Savannah. He came to AGL from El Paso Energy's Macon office, where he was an operations supervisor. In that role he was responsible for the operations of the natural gas transmission pipeline facilities in central Georgia. Previous to that Dallas was a senior project engineer.
Mr. Dallas is fairly new to the Atlanta community, but was very active in his previous role in Savannah, Georgia. He was Chairman of the Local Workforce Investment Board Coastal Workforce Services. He also served as a board member of the Savannah Economic Development Authority, Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce, United Way of the Coastal Empire, Savannah Community Foundation, Junior Achievement, and Savannah Fund for Excellence in Public Education.
Dallas is a graduate of Leadership Georgia’s class of 2006 and a graduate of Leadership Savannah’s class of 2004.
In the 2006, he was appointed by Governor Sonny Perdue to serve on the State of Georgia’s Workforce Investment Board. He is also a member of Auburn University’s Engineering Alumni Council.
Dallas grew up in Opelika, Alabama and earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Auburn University in 1990.
