Wayne is a partner in the litigation department. He focuses his practice on construction litigation, professional malpractice defense, personal injury, products liability, and insurance litigation. He also serves as a mediator and private arbitrator on a regular basis in all types of civil litigation matters. During the course of Wayne's career, he has tried approximately seventy-five civil cases to verdict, and he has handled an equal or greater number of matters that have been disposed of through pretrial motions.
Representative Matters
A claim by a surplus lines carrier against an agent for allegedly wrongfully binding coverage on property that was subsequently destroyed by fire at a loss of greater than $500,000.
The defense of an insurance agent in an action brought by its client alleging failure to procure coverage that protected the client from the theft of an expensive foreign automobile.
The defense of an insurance agent sued by a client alleging failure to provide cost coverage for a nightclub that burned, resulting in a loss of in excess of $400,000.
The defense of a real estate agent in a claim by her client alleging failure to properly notify client of restrictions and HOA requirements prior to purchase.
The defense of an insurance agent in a claim by his client alleging failure to provide replacement liability insurance to protect against a judgment in excess of $200,000 against his client.
The prosecution of a claim involving the construction of a cogeneration power plant in Chapel Hill, N.C.
