Warren has been a member of Pierce Atwood since 1977 and is a senior partner in the Augusta office. Warren’s current practice consists of general business and corporate law, real estate law, and estate planning and probate law. His professional background includes extensive experience in transactions involving the buying and selling of businesses both stock sales and asset transfers; corporate financings, representing both financial institutions and business borrowers; and SBA matters. Warren has extensive knowledge of the workings of the Maine Secretary of State’s Office, including filings and searches relative to both the Corporations Division and the Uniform Commercial Code Division. Being in the capital city of Augusta, Warren is frequently asked by attorneys from both out of state and within to assist in providing information from these agencies. He has also worked in both residential and commercial real estate transactions, many involving substantial title insurance issues. His work involves frequent negotiations with lenders, title insurance companies, and governmental agencies concerning the closing of commercial and residential real estate transactions. He has completed numerous sophisticated estate plans covering issues ranging from irrevocable life insurance trusts to charitable remainder trusts and has probated many complicated estates, including those with federal estate tax issues. Warren has litigated many contested cases before the Maine Probate Courts. Prior to joining the firm, Warren was a partner from 1970 to 1977 in the firm of Wathen & Wathen in Augusta, Maine. From 1967 to 1970, he was an Assistant Attorney General of the State of Maine. Education Warren received an A.B. from Princeton University in 1962 and an LL.B. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1967. Professional Activities Warren is a member of the Kennebec County and Maine State Bar Associations. From 1973 to 1979, Warren was treasurer of the Maine State Bar Association; currently, he serves as chair of the Tellers of Elections. Bar Admissions Warren is admitted to practice in Maine.
