Walter Weir, Jr., managing partner of the Firm, concentrates his practice in commercial and banking litigation, general business representation, bankruptcy, white collar and criminal law, False Claims Act and other federal regulatory issues. Mr. Weir also has extensive experience in real estate financing, foreclosures, acquisitions and related litigation. Among other clients, Mr. Weir has represented major lending and financial institutions in the handling of complex commercial litigation, creditors’ rights, bankruptcy and insolvency matters. He also handles loan workouts, loan documentation, as well as general corporate and commercial matters.
Professional Activities
Mr. Weir is a recipient of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association Trial Advocacy Award. Mr. Weir served for three years as a Master in the Temple American Inn of Court, and holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
Mr. Weir has been listed in The Bar Registry Of Prominent Lawyers since 1999. In addition, he was named a "Pennsylvania Super Lawyer" for 2004, 2005 and 2006, an honor awarded only to the top 5% of lawyers in Pennsylvania, as published in Philadelphia Magazine.
Mr. Weir frequently lectures for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and Lorman Education Services on selected topics regarding the law of bankruptcy, debt collection, lender liability, and general lending practices. He has conducted seminars for many financial institutions on lending practices in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Mr. Weir is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia, and New Jersey. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Pennsylvania and the District of New Jersey.
Education
Mr. Weir earned his undergraduate degree from Temple University, and graduated from Temple University Beasley School of Law in 1976. Prior to graduation, Mr. Weir attended Georgetown University Law Center where he participated in its Criminal Litigation Program. |
