Walter Norton Jr. enters his fifth year as Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Boston Celtics. Walter has trained, prepared, and rehabilitated athletes in the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, WNBA, MLS, and WUSA. Walter specializes in performance training for professional, college and high school athletes of all abilities. Prior to joining the Celtics, Norton had been the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Boston University Hockey (NCAA), The New England Revolution (MLS), and The Boston Breakers (WUSA). Norton also assisted with the Boston Bruins (NHL) and helped prepare 40 medalists for the 1998, 2002, and 2006 Winter Olympic Games. Additionally, Norton is a consultant to the Harvard Basketball program (NCAA). Norton has worked with first round draft choices in Football, Hockey, and Basketball. During his tenure with The New England Revolution and The Boston Breakers in professional Soccer, each team was among the league leaders annually for fewest games missed due to injury. He has trained professional athletes in golf, baseball, boxing, lacrosse, fitness, sports entertainment, and consulted for Division 1 and 3 collegiate (NCAA) Field Hockey teams. In 2005 Norton founded the Institute of Performance and Fitness, a performance training company dedicated to changing and enhancing the lifestyles and fitness habits of motivated individuals. The company works with athletes, teams, corporate professionals and individual clients to create and enact an optimal plan for success based on the individuality of those they work with. A college quarterback, Norton played and coached professionally in Europe. He graduated in 1993 from Boston University with a degree in Human Movement. An avid dog lover and volunteer, Norton resides in North Andover. |
