Walt Kuchinski serves as Executive Vice President and office Managing Director in the firm’s Charlotte, NC office. In addition, he is a member of DHR’s Financial Services & Diversity Practice Groups. Prior to joining DHR International, Walt founded and managed Diversitas, LLC, a broad-scale human capital consulting firm focused on delivering strategic human capital advisory, retained executive search and executive coaching services. Before forming Diversitas, Walt served for three years at Wachovia Corporation where he held a number of senior human resource roles. First, as corporate head of recruiting, then as co-chair for all human resource integration activities associated with the First Union-Wachovia merger and then as corporate head of Executive & Specialized Search. Prior to joining Wachovia, Walt served in two senior capacities for Bank of America Corporation. Initially as Senior Personnel Executive for Global Capital Markets, Corporate Finance & Investment Banking and then as Director of Professional & University Recruiting for the Global Corporate and Investment Banking businesses. Before relocating to Charlotte, Walt spent two years in executive search, which included serving as a Principal of Gould, McCoy & Chadick in New York City. Before that, he spent five years as Director of Human Resources for Union Bank of Switzerland and UBS Securities in North America, leading change across every aspect of the HR function. Before this, Walt held a number of senior HR leadership roles at Citibank in New York over a seventeen-year period, which included responsibility for the creation, expansion and management of the Global Investment Banking, Asset Management, Corporate Finance & Consumer Banking businesses. Walt began his career with the IBM Corporation, later serving on the team assigned to develop and manage IBM’s management assessment center. He has served as board member and New York chapter president for the International Association of Corporate & Professional Recruitment (IACPR); member of the Wall Street Human Resource Directors’ Association and member of the Corporate Advisory Board for the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management. He is a founding member of the Corporate Executive Board’s Recruiting Roundtable. He served as the 2004-05 Chair of the Diversity Champions’ Committee - Charlotte Chamber of Commerce.Currently he serves as Board Member for The Diversity Council of the Carolinas and Faculty Member for the University of Phoenix Graduate School of Business. In addition, he is a member of the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources and regularly reviews white papers for the Society for Human Resource Management. Walt holds an MBA with honors from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a BBA with honors in computer science & marketing from Pace University. He is a professional guitarist and performs regularly in the Charlotte region, playing a wide-range of original jazz compositions. Walt is married to Angel for 37 years and is the proud father of Brian and Amy.
