Walter Nikolaus Gehl assumed office as Chief Executive Officer of LSG Lufthansa Service Holding AG on March 9, 2005. He holds responsibility for the Corporate Functions, Finance, Information Management as well as Human Resources. On October 1, 2004, Walter Gehl joined LSG Lufthansa Service Holding AG as Chief Financial Officer and became the interims spokesman for the executive board, when his predecessor resigned on November 23, 2004. Prior to assuming his present position, Gehl had been a Board member of the Airline Division of Lufthansa German Airlines in Frankfurt since 2001. Initially he was responsible for human resources and information technology, until he took over the areas of services and personnel -- with a focus on cabin crew and ground services -- and human resources management in 2003. There he directed a staff of about 20,000. From 1995 to 2001, he was a member of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo AG with responsibility for human resources, finance and information technology. In 1996 he also became Labor Director. During the period between 1981 and 1995, Gehl garnered considerable experience in project controlling, finance and accounting. Since he completed his studies in business administration at Saarland University in Saarbrücken, Germany in 1981, Gehl has been working for the Lufthansa group. Gehl is also chairman of the Supervisory Boards of Albatros Versicherungsdienste GmbH and Lufthansa Revenue Services GmbH. Additionally he is member of the Supervisory Boards of Lufthansa Business Solutions GmbH and the shipping company Vineta/MACS (Maritime Carrier Shipping) GmbH. |
