Walter has a practice focusing on transportation law, insurance defense and construction law. His transportation law practice includes the defense of Class I railroads in Federal Employers’ Liability Act (FELA) cases, grade crossing accident cases, contract litigation and arbitration, quiet title actions and proceedings before the Colorado Public Utilities Commission. He is a frequent lecturer and presenter at various Claims and Litigation conferences throughout the western United States and is on the Pacific Region Executive Committee of the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel. Walter’s construction practice includes the representation of general contractors and subcontractors, including contract review and drafting, mechanic’s lien foreclosure actions, bond claims, Miller Act claims and construction defect litigation. Walter has also successfully represented architects in trademark violations of their design documents. Walter received his Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1981, was admitted to practice in the State of Colorado and the United States District Court, District of Colorado in 1981, the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit in 1985, the United States Court of Federal Claims in 1994 and the State of Nebraska in 2001. Walter is a member of the Denver Bar Association, Colorado Bar Association and American Bar Association, the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel, Defense Research Institute and Colorado Defense Lawyers’ Association. |
