Walter W. Becky joined Morton International, Inc. as a financial accountant in 1974. A year later, he was named manager of Corporate Accounting, and shortly thereafter was promoted to director of that function. Transferring to the Salt division in 1977, Mr. Becky held positions of increasing responsibility in the financial area including controller and vice president of Finance for Salt. He became vice president for Salt Group Production and Engineering in 1989. In 1993, Mr. Becky was named president of Morton Salt.
Rohm and Haas Company purchased Morton International in 1999 and elected Mr. Becky a company vice president and member of its Leadership Council. He serves as business unit director for Salt, as well as President of Morton Salt. Mr. Becky has announced his intention to retire at the end of March 2008. Until his departure, he will assume the role of Chairman of the Salt Group.
Before joining Morton International, Mr.Becky held a management management consultant position for Coopers & Lybrand from 1970 to 1974. Mr. Becky earned a BBA degree in Business from the University of Cincinnati in 1966. He is a CPA in Illinois.
He is a member on the boards of the Morton Arboretum, the Home Safety Council and the Network for Sustained Elimination of Iodine Deficiency. He has also served in board positions at Central DuPage Hospital. Mr. Becky and his wife, Sandy, reside in Wheaton, Illinois. |
