Walt is dedicated to business turnaround and renewal. He acts quickly to assist troubled domestic and international clients, providing results-oriented analysis, assessment and solutions for performance improvement. He then partners with management to stabilize workforces, ensuring product flow and achieving financial objectives. Walt’s interim roles have included Chief Operating Officer, General Sales Manager, Director of Operations, Production, Engineering, Quality, Materials and Human Resources Manager. In one long-term BBK engagement, Walt acted as Operations Director to bring a start-up company out of bankruptcy. He provided essential expertise and leadership that resulted in a new product launch ahead of schedule. Walt was also a driving force in commercial management and business development. Today that company is a $14 million business with 100 employees. Professional Experience In the 80s Walt resigned his commission as a Captain in the US Army to pursue a corporate business career. He served a variety of industries including plastics, metals and assembly operations in automotive and consumer products companies. His programs have supported manufacturing, quality, engineering, maintenance, sales, marketing and personnel management. As General Manager of A-Mold Sales International, Walt was responsible for direct sales, profit and loss, accounts receivable, acquisition of new domestic and international clients, and increasing revenues. In this role he acquired a new Fortune 50 business, increasing annual revenue from $60 million to $140 million within two years. Walt served as Operations Manager for Lucas Industries, a $70 million manufacturer of braking systems. He reduced the cost of quality/defects by 50%, reduced the operating budget by $420 million, finessed employee/management issues, and saved the company from $4 million in potential penalties. As Senior Associate for Pricewaterhouse-Coopers (formerly Coopers & Lybrand) Walt was responsible for identifying, training and implementing lean manufacturing for clients. For one client, he and his team implemented process improvements that resulted in over $1.4 million in savings; reduced changeover as much as 75% and increased production output 20% within six months. Walt was a Quality Assurance Manager for UBE Automotive, a $40 million manufacturer of cast aluminum wheels. He was responsible for developing, implementing and managing this company’s total quality system. In this role, he directed the introduction of all new products and helped the company achieve and maintain a product quality performance rating of 99.9% - which resulted in the company being named Cadillac’s sole source supplier of aluminum wheels.
