Walter Curran, Jr., MD is Group Chairman of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG), Professor and Chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Clinical Director of Jefferson's Kimmel Cancer Center and Medical Director of the Jefferson Cancer Network.
Dr. Curran is the principal investigator of several national clinical protocols for both brain tumor and lung cancer patients. Additionally, Dr. Curran leads an NCI-funded effort to determine the clinical relevance of genomic alterations in colorectal cancer and several trials evaluating novel systemic agents in conjunction with radiation. He serves on the editorial board of six journals and has authored or co-authored more than 200 publications. Among other awards, Dr. Curran has received an American Cancer Society Fellowship and an ASTRO/ESTRO Travel Grant.
Dr. Curran graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College and received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Curran completed his residency in the Department of Radiation Therapy at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center and an internship in internal medicine at Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia. Dr. Curran is board certified in radiation oncology. |
