Walt joined Nanogen in December 2004 with the purchase of Epoch Biosciences where he held the position of Senior Vice President of Research and Development. Preceding this, Walt was North America Head of the Roche Chief Technology Office (a research and business development role) and held R&D roles with Boehringer Mannheim (Corange Technology Office), Sanofi and was Chief Scientific Officer at Quantum Dot. In all these positions Walt’s focus was therapeutic and diagnostic research. Walt consults with a major San Francisco venture capital/merchant bank and is a special advisor and heads the scientific advisory board of a Seattle-based venture capital firm.
Walt has senior degrees in Biochemistry and Medicine from Purdue University and the University of Washington, served as a senior fellow in the Department of Medicine, Division of Medical Genetics at the University of Washington and was professor of Genetics and Cell Biology at the University of Minnesota. |
