Walter Macnee is president of The Americas, MasterCard International, with responsibility for building all aspects of MasterCard's issuance and acceptance business in the United States, Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean. The Americas Region of MasterCard generated more than half of the company's worldwide volume in 2005.
Mr. Macnee began his second tour of duty with MasterCard when he recently accepted his present position. In his first tour, from 2001 to 2004, he was president of MasterCard Canada, where he oversaw the company's efforts to provide advanced, secure, and reliable payment solutions and to strengthen its position in the Canadian banking industry.
Immediately prior to his current position, Mr. Macnee was executive vice president, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, in Toronto, where he was responsible for overall management of the bank's credit card business and national collections.
When he first joined MasterCard, in 2001, he concluded an 18-year career with Toronto Dominion Bank, where in his last position as senior vice president, he had full product management and client service responsibility for payment cards and personal lending.
Mr. Macnee has also served as chairman of Visa Canada and director of Visa International. He has earned several university degrees, including a master's in business administration from York University. |
