Mr. Kou is our President Chief Executive Officer and founder. In 1996 he founded Silicon Motion as a leading graphics processor company in California’s Silicon Valley. In 2002 he merged Silicon Motion with Taiwan’s Feiya Technology an innovative flash card microcontroller developer. He restructured the combined company and in 2005 took Silicon Motion public on NASDAQ; Silicon Motion became the first IC design company to be listed in the US with headquarters in Asia.
Mr. Kou has over 20 years of experience as both a semiconductor technologist and business manager. He was previously and for 8 years a Vice President and Chief Scientist in Western Digital’s Multimedia Division which developed the Rocketchip graphics processor family for notebook PCs that held a 90% market share from 1990 to 1993. In 1995 he assisted Western Digital in the sale of the Multimedia Division to Philips Semiconductor.
Before Western Digital Mr. Kou worked for Wyse Technology. He graduated from Taiwan’s National Chiao Tung University with a BS in Electrical and Control Engineering. He also received an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California at Santa Barbara. |
