W.C.W. (Willie) Chiang is senior vice president, commercial, for ConocoPhillips. He is responsible for optimizing the value of the company’s assets through supply and trading of its commodity portfolio.
Chiang started his career in refining with engineering, maintenance, project management, operating, and refining management roles for Chevron, independent refiner Powerine Oil Company, and Unocal/Tosco/Phillips. He has been refinery manager of both the Los Angeles and the San Francisco refineries, as well as general manager/vice president of western region-refining. He was named president, downstream strategy, integration and specialty businesses in 2003, and president, Americas supply and trading, commercial, in 2005.
He is a member of the American Petroleum Institute Downstream Committee. Chiang has also been involved in numerous youth and education efforts in the community and he is a member of the board of directors for the Society for the Performing Arts (SPA).
Chiang was born in 1960 in Corning, N.Y. He received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in 1981 and completed the 2004 Advanced Management Program at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. |
