As a founder and Managing Director at Lab49, Vivake Gupta has, inter alia, led the development of firm-wide real-time risk analytics systems for investment banking clients, worked closely with the senior management of public companies to roll out entirely new technology-driven profit-centers, and advised on systems for managing and monitoring pricing systems run across massively parallel grids of computers.
Previously, Vivake was a management consultant at The Boston Consulting Group, where he advised senior executives of large financial institution clients on technology operations. Vivake also co-founded and served as Chief Technology Officer for Simile Software, where he led the development of the company's unstructured data and content management technologies, ran technology operations, and directed original research initiatives in the area of statistical natural language processing.
Prior to starting Simile, Vivake was a Research Associate at the University of Chicago doing work on scientific parallel computing, complexity theory and parallelizing compilers. Vivake has also made extensive contributions to the open-source community, including involvement in the Mozilla project, contributions to the Linux kernel, and additions to the library of code available for the Python language in the areas of statistical processing, natural language, and rich media.
Vivake holds a B.A. in the Biological Sciences from the University of Chicago and an M.B.A. in Entrepreneurial Management from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is also an active member of both the Enterpreneurs’ Organization (EO) and the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO). |
