Ms. Tao, an associate of the Firm, practices in the Business, Real Estate and China Practice Sections of the Firm.
Ms. Tao's practice focuses on real estate transactions, which include representation of buyers, sellers, landlords, tenants, real estate developers and banks in connection with the acquisitions, sales, leasing, construction and financing of hotels, shopping centers, office buildings and apartment complexes.
In addition, Ms. Tao is a member of the Firm's China Practice Group which represents American companies transacting business with and investing in China and Chinese companies conducting or seeking to conduct cross-border transactions with the United States. The China Practice includes representing American clients in exporting and importing goods to and from China, purchasing real estate in China, buying or building manufacturing facilities in China, and representing Chinese clients seeking to establish or expand their operations in the United States.
Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Tao served as in-house counsel for the Bank of China's U.S. operations, where she was primarily responsible for handling major litigation and drafting and negotiating various contracts and other legal documents.

Community Activities:
Ms. Tao organized a seminar in New York City on China's newly-enacted Enterprise Bankruptcy Law two weeks after its enactment. Speakers included one of the key authors of the new law, two American bankruptcy experts and an in-house counsel from a major American investment bank. Ms. Tao also facilitated a Chinese scholar's visit and exchange of views with several bankruptcy judges at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
Ms. Tao led a Law Panel discussion, entitled "Rules of the Game - China's Legal System," at Harvard China Review's Tenth Annual Conference held at Harvard University on April 7, 2007.
