Mr. Mago is a Partner in the Employment Group and the Insurance Defense Group. Mr. Mago represents employers and governmental entities in a wide variety of litigation matters, including: disability discrimination claims under the Americans with Disabilities Act; age discrimination claims under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act; purported violations of the Family And Medical Leave Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, or 42 U.S.C. § 1983; and claims of sexual harassment, race, gender, or national origin discrimination arising under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 or 1991, or 42 U.S.C. § 1981. Mr. Mago also represents employers in state law claims of wrongful discharge, breach of employment contracts or covenants not to compete, defamation, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Finally, Mr. Mago counsels employers to avoid litigation by utilizing appropriate anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policies, discipline and termination policies, affirmative action compliance policies, employment contracts, and employee handbooks. Mr. Mago's insurance defense practice encompasses a broad array of insurance issues, including the litigation of coverage disputes in state or federal court, and the defense of insured businesses, employees, and localities in product liability actions, premises liability actions, and commercial disputes. Mr. Mago has extensive courtroom experience defending employers and insured businesses, whether through motions practice, trial work, or appellate work. Finally, Mr. Mago is an active member of the Virginia Bar Association, the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys, the Defense Research Institute, and the Richmond Bar Association, and he devotes considerable time and effort on behalf of the Central Virginia Legal Aid Society on a pro bono basis.
