Victoria S. Berghel is General Counsel Senior Vice President at the Company. Until 2004 she was the Vice President Law for Real Estate Construction and Environmental Affairs at Sears Roebuck and Co. and was a member of the Corporate Strategic Leadership Team. Before joining Sears in 1996 Ms. Berghel was a partner with the law firm of Weinberg & Green in Baltimore now merged into the Philadelphia-based firm of Saul Ewing. Ms. Berghel earned her Juris Doctor in 1977 from the University of Maryland School of Law where she was on the Editorial Board of the Maryland Law Review. Her undergraduate degree is from the University of Maryland where she was Phi Beta Kappa. Ms. Berghel is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. She has been a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers since 1989. Ms. Berghel was the Chair of the Maryland State Bar Association’s Section of Real Property Planning and Zoning from 1994-96 and served on the Baltimore advisory board of the Chicago Title Insurance Company. She taught a course on Real Estate Drafting and Negotiation at the University of Maryland School of Law from 1986 to 1996 and is a frequent lecturer. Ms. Berghel is on the Advisory Board of The John Marshall School of Law LLM Program in Real Estate. She also is a member of the Law Conference Program Committee for the International Council of Shopping Centers was co-chair of the Law Conference in 2003 chair of the Law Conference in 2004 and has served as Dean of the ICSC University of Shopping Centers School of Shopping Center Law. |
