Vernon Niven assumed his duties as Churchill Downs Incorporated's ("Churchill Downs") executive vice president of technology initiatives in October 2006. An experienced senior executive and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in leveraging new information technologies for competitive advantage, Niven excels in strategy formation and team building, and has founded and led several innovative and fast-growing technology businesses.
Prior to his tenure at Churchill Downs, Niven served as executive vice president for Tumri Inc., an online advertising technology company, where he oversaw marketing, business strategy, retail business development, and product strategy. Prior to this, Niven led the e-commerce content management efforts for Aspect Development and i2 Technologies. He also spent 13 years with Accenture, where his responsibilities included technology and process improvements for global corporations and the creation of a highly successful e-commerce practice.
Niven currently serves on the school board of Pensacola Beach Elementary School, a top-rated charter school in Pensacola Beach, Fla., and is advisor to several early-stage technology companies. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Louisiana State University. |
