Mr. Vaidyanathan was appointed the Managing Director of ICICI Personal Financial Services Limited (ICICI PFS) in early 2000, and was given the responsibility to set up the fledgling Consumer Financing Business, which was then articulated as the new growth engine for the organization. ICICI PFS was merged with ICICI Bank in 2002. Because of his strong leadership, team building and technical skills with retail credit, he was appointed as Country Head Retail Banking in the merged entity. This included the following 3 businesses: Retail lending, Retail Deposits and the SME Business.
His contribution in building the powerful retail business franchise, working out the credit philosophies and the retail banking team is widely recognized in Industry circles and ICICI Group.
Over the last 7 years, the consumer banking business of ICICI Bank has grown to an asset base of over USD 20 billion (Sep 06) and about 20 million customers, including over 5 million credit cardholders. ICICI Bank today runs highly successful businesses across all lines of consumer banking in India.
He was recently appointed on the Board of ICICI Bank as an Executive Director.
He is on the Board of ICICI Home finance and ICICI Lombard. He has served on the Boards of CIBIL, India’s first credit bureau, and the SMERA, the rating agency from SIDBI, positions he has given up subsequent to his appointment to the Board of ICICI Bank.
Mr. Vaidyanathan is an Alumni of the Birla Institute of Technology and Harvard Business School (AMP).
