Dr. V.R.S Sampath is educated in the field of Law and History. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the Presidency College in 1976, followed by a Bachelor of Law degree from Madras Law College in 1980, a Master of Law degree in 1987 and a PH.D in 1997, all from the University of Madras. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in History from the Madurai Kamaraj University (1985).
Dr. V.R.S. Sampath also holds a Diploma in Tourism and has completed number of specialised training programmes and courses in Social work - USA, Human Rights Netherlands, Conflict Resolution Canada, and Peace education Austria.
He has traveled widely internationally including study tours and has published numerous research papers and books on subjects such as Travel, Law, Society, History and Culture.
Dr. V.R.S. Sampath is currently an empanelled advocate to both Canara Bank and Indian Overseas Bank, and a legal advisor to the Construction Industry Development Board of the Government of Malaysia and served as a legal advisor to the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation Ltd., Government of Tamil Nadu undertaking in 1989-91.
Dr. V.R.S. Sampath is a part time Editor for ‘Satta Kadir’ a law journal published in Chennai from 1992.
Dr. V.R.S. Sampath is part time Director for M/s. Arni Vegetable Oil Ltd., a joint venture project between Malaysia and Andhra Pradesh, India.
Dr. V.R.S. Sampath has served on various government committees including the advisory committees of the Central Board of Film Certification and the All India Radio, both of the government of India, Chennai. He is the chairman of various non-governmental organisations in Chennai including the Inter-University Cultural Service, the Madras Development Society, the India International Tourism Centre, the Indian Institute for Aids Prevention, the International Centre for Human Rights and the National Development Trust. |
