Urban began his career in dairy farming with his father in the late 1950s. He and his wife, together with two of their seven children, milk 200 Holsteins and raise corn, soybeans, wheat and alfalfa on 800 acres. Active in many industry and civic organizations, he is a member of the DFA Value-Added Committee and is on the Mideast Council. He also is on the milk promotion board of the American Dairy Association/Dairy Council Mideast, Mideast Milk Marketing Agency, Mid America Cooperative Board, Universal Cooperative Board, C.F. Industries and the Marion Township Charities Committee. He is chairman of Mercer Landmark Cooperative and a board member of the Marion Mutual Insurance Company. He also is a past chairman of Countrymark Cooperative, and member of the Marion Township Zoning Board. He is a council member for his church and is on its cemetery board. |
