Career:
Uli Sigg’s distinguished career includes not only his current position as Vice Chairman of the Board of
Switzerland’s leading media group, Ringier Group. Between 1995 and 1998, he served as Ambassador of
Switzerland to the People’s Republic of China, North Korea and Mongolia.
From 1990 to 1995, Uli Sigg was an entrepreneur, serving as a Member of the Board of Directors of several
international corporations, including Ringier and Schindler.
Uli Sigg started his career in 1977 in the export division of the Schindler Group. He became Head of Chinese
Activities in 1979. In 1980 he was appointed Vice-President of China-Schindler Elevator Company in Beijing,
the first joint venture of the People’s Republic of China with a western company. His promotion to Asia-
Pacific Area Manager followed in 1982. He became a Member of the Executive Committee in 1984 and in
1986 Delegate of the Board of Directors.
Before joining Schindler, Uli Sigg was a business journalist at Ringier and Finanz und Wirtschaft.
