Trevor is a Heifer International Foundation representative to the Heifer International Board.
Trevor is President and Chief Executive Officer of Milk Specialties Company in Dundee, Illinois. He has held this position since 1996. Milk Specialties Company is a leading manufacturer and supplier of specialty animal nutrition and health products and the company enjoys sales of its products throughout the world.
Trevor was born and educated in England. He studied Agriculture at the University of Reading and graduated with a Ph.D. in 1974. He then joined a multinational Dutch company, Wessanen, and for five years lived in South Africa setting up and running a research farm. While working with Wessanen, his job involved extensive travel to various parts of the world including Australia, New Zealand, Middle East, Eastern Europe, Russia and North America.
In 1979, Trevor joined Volac Ltd. in England and was later transferred to the United States in 1983. In 1985, he joined Milk Specialties Company as Vice President Research.
Trevor is a member of the British Society of Animal Science, American Society of Animal Science, American Dairy Science Association and the American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists. He has published over 100 research papers on topics of animal nutrition. From 1998 to 2001, Dr. Tomkins served on a subcommittee of the National Academy of Sciences, National Research Council reviewing the Nutrient Requirements of Dairy Cattle.
Trevor has been actively involved with Heifer Project International since 1990. He attended the Heifer Project WiLD conference in Chengdu, China in 1985. He was Moderator of the UCC church in Sycamore, Illinois. He is married to Jenny Tomkins and has two children, Claire and Nicholas. |
