Toru Tanino from Shimonoseki, Japan, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 89th International Convention, held in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, June 30-July 4, 2006.
Director Tanino works in property management.
A member of the Shimonoseki Lions Club since 1989, Director Tanino has held many offices within the association, including club president, district Youth Exchange chairperson, district governor and sector coordinator for Campaign SightFirst II.
In recognition of his service to the association he has received numerous awards, including three Club President’s Awards, the District Governor’s Award, a Membership Key Award, the International President’s Certificate of Appreciation and a Leadership Award. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, Director Tanino is active in numerous professional and community organizations. In the past, he served as a provincial social worker.
Director Tanino and his wife, Takako, have three children and four grandchildren. |
