Tony Harris, Vice President of IT Services, began his professional career with Thorntons Inc. in 1994 as a Help Desk Technician and was responsible for the training and implementation of first in-store automated accounting system (TMI). Tony was then promoted to Systems Analyst and was responsible for automating several manual reporting functions within Operations, as well as the Store Support Center. Tony also served in the roles of Manager of IT Services, Director of IT Projects, and Director of IT Services prior to his promotion to Vice President of IT Services. In these various roles, Tony has led the IT Department to many accomplishments including the rollout of a state of the art POS system, the implementation of a Wide Area Network (WAN), development of the company intranet, the automation of the payroll function for 1600 field employees, and the development of a web based gasoline survey and pricing system. Tony received his B.S. in Management Information Systems from Western Kentucky University in 1993.
Tony's current responsibilities include establishing strategic relationships with key IT suppliers, to control the liasion between IT and other functional areas of the business, and to provide technology vision and leadership which support the goals and strategic initiatives of Thornton Oil Corporation.
Tony was a speaker at the 2000 Convenience Store National Advisory Group Meeting, a panelist at the 1999 CSP magazine technology roundtable, and a member of the National Association of Convenience Stores Device Integration Committee. |
