Tony Affuso is chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division. Affuso joined the company when it was known as Unigraphics Solutions Inc. in 1992, becoming CEO in 2000. In 2001, EDS, which was a majority shareholder in Unigraphics Solutions, acquired all outstanding shares of the company and merged it with the recently acquired Structural Dynamics Research Corporation (SDRC). The merger formed a PLM line of business known as UGS PLM Solutions where Affuso continued on as president and CEO. Then, in May 2004, Affuso guided the company through another evolution as the private equity group of Bain Capital, Silver Lake Partners and Warburg Pincus acquired UGS PLM Solutions and changed its name to UGS. In May 2007, Siemens AG acquired UGS, changed the company's name to Siemens PLM Software and made it part of its Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) division (now the Siemens Industry Sector). Years of implementing strategies and technology, as well as hands-on engineering experience prepared Affuso to head Siemens PLM Software. His previous positions include: Director of Strategic Planning and Technology Development at EDS; EDS Division President of the C4 Program on the GM account, planning and implementing a state-of-the-art IT infrastructure to modernize vehicle development; and Manager of Advanced CAD/CAM Technology at Xerox where he successfully automated the design and tooling process in its copier divisions. After earning his Bachelor of Science degree at Rochester Institute of Technology, Affuso began his career as a design engineer. He developed custom manufacturing automation systems for IBM and Cogar Corp. Affuso serves on the board of Southern Methodist University s School of Engineering in Dallas. He also enjoys bicycling, fishing and equity investing in his free time. He resides in Frisco, Texas with his wife Lorraine. |
