Tony Affuso is chairman of the board and chief executive officer of UGS PLM Software (UGS), a division of Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D). UGS is a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services with 4.4 million licensed seats and 47,000 customers worldwide. Headquartered in Plano, Texas, UGS' vision is to enable a world where organizations and their partners collaborate through global innovation networks to deliver world-class products and services while leveraging open enterprise solutions, fulfilling the mission of enabling them to transform their process of innovation.
Affuso joined the company when it was known as Unigraphics Solutions Inc. in 1992, becoming CEO in 2000. In 2001, EDS, which was a majority shareholder in Unigraphics Solutions, acquired all outstanding shares of the company and merged it with the recently acquired Structural Dynamics Research Corporation (SDRC). The merger formed a PLM line of business known as UGS PLM Solutions where Affuso continued on as president and CEO.
"We are the first company in the new PLM industry to report reaching the $1 billion mark in revenue, and we continue to increase our market share and profitably grow while always focusing on our customers' success as our number one priority."
