Prior to joining Ovations, Tom Marchetto held several senior level executive positions at ARAMARK, a world leader in managed services.
Tom’s career with the company spanned 30 years, most recently as President of the Convention and Tourism Services from 1999 to 2003. In this leadership role he had nationwide P&L responsibility for a $400 million strategic business unit, consisting of 50+ venues including convention centers, national parks and resorts, and cultural attractions. From 1995 to 1996, he was Area President of Sports and Entertainment Services, responsible for a $250 million portfolio of stadiums and arenas, amphitheaters and convention centers. Tom’s career has focused on leading the rapid growth of multi-unit businesses across several industry markets, which encompassed contract management for restaurants, catering, premium and concession services, convention hospitality services, faculty maintenance and retail merchandizing.
Under his leadership, ARAMARK doubled its market share and achieved the number one market position in the convention center sector of the hospitality industry. His successful track record contributed to major milestones in revenue and earnings growth, operational excellence and client retention. During an 8 year period, he created a business development strategy and led a team whose efforts resulted in contract awards and extensions with aggregate term revenues exceeding $2 billion, while maintaining a 100% client retention rate.
Tom forged key alliances throughout hospitality and tourism service sectors nationwide, inclusive of the National Park Service, American Society of Association Executives, major trade associations, convention and visitors bureaus, corporate meetings, and national conventions such as the 2000 RNC in Philadelphia and the DNC in Los Angeles.
As a senior executive in sports and entertainment, Tom was also responsible for ARAMARK’s participation in the operations and sponsorship opportunities of several significant events, including NFL Super Bowls, MLB/NBA/NHL All-Star Games, and the NCAA Final Four.He received ARAMARK’s corporate leadership awards for Sales Excellence in 1999 and Operational Excellence in 2000, and is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University. |
