Tom Klein is a Semiconductor Industry veteran. He worked in the Industry from 1960 until his retirement in 1992. He started at Mullard Research, the British subsidiary of Philips. He joined Fairchild Semiconductor R&D Laboratories in 1966, where he demonstrated the feasibility of Silicon Gate MOS Integrated Circuits and lead a group that was responsible for bringing the first commercially available Silicon Gate MOS Integrated Circuit to the market place. He joined National Semiconductor in 1970 and he worked there until 1984. He left National to start Sierra Semiconductor with fellow Board Member Jim Diller and others. Sierra Semiconductor subsequently became PMC-Sierra. As part of an agreement between Sierra Semiconductor and Singapore Technology, he moved to Singapore for two years to start and technically supervise the operation of Chartered Semiconductor. After retirement, he continued to participate in the High Tech Industry through investment activities, both directly and through Venture Capital Partnerships. He became the first investor and Board Member of Summit Microelectronics in 1997. |
