Tom Holmes began his career in 1968 as a CPA at KPMG Peat Marwick and in 1972 became a partner in the Hartford, Connecticut based accounting firm, Whittlesey and Hadley. He began his business career in 1983 as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer of one of the United States’ largest Pella Window and Door distributorships. In 1985 he led the acquisition of Keystone Aviation Services Inc. from Uniroyal and was a founding shareholder of its sister entity, Key Air, Inc, a nationally prominent executive aircraft management and charter company. In 1986 Mr. Holmes and two partners acquired USCO Logistics from Uniroyal. At the time, it had approximately $30MM in annual revenue. Mr. Holmes became Executive Chairman of USCO and over the next 15 years, with an excellent organization, both inherited and recruited, grew USCO to approximately $255MM in annual revenue and established it as one of the leading North American logistics companies. In July 2001 Mr. Holmes and his partners sold USCO to Kuehne & Nagel, a $3BN Swiss publicly traded, global freight forwarding, customs brokerage and logistics organization. In 1987 Mr. Holmes founded Shannon Hotel Group of Longboat Key, FL with three other individuals. In 1987 he and another partner purchased the Longboat Key Hilton. In 1990 he and two other partners purchased the Longboat Key Club, and in 1991 he led a small group to purchase the Holiday Inn on Lido Key. The properties were operated until disposed of in 1998, when Mr. Holmes exited the hospitality industry. In 2004 Mr. Holmes, along with four partners, led the formation of Flagler Construction Equipment, LLC. The company was formed to acquire from VolvoCE North America, the Florida market construction equipment distribution business known as LB Smith. Mr. Holmes serves as Chairman and CEO of the company located in Orlando, FL. Mr. Holmes is a 1968 graduate of Mt. Saint Mary’s College, Emmitsburg, MD. Mr. Holmes is Chairman of the Board of Pittsfield Plastics Engineering Inc. of Pittsfield, PA, Chairman of AirDat, LLC located in Morrisville, NC and Evergreen, CO, is on the Board of Truckstop.net, LLC and is a member of the Board of Trustees of St. Stephen’s School, Bradenton, FL. |
