Tom currently serves as VP of Engineering at Vyatta. Combined with his unbridled passion for Linux, he brings with him over 23 years of software development experience, and prior to joining Vyatta was the VP of Software Engineering at Teak Technologies. Prior to Teak, Tom was Director of Mid-Range Platform Software Development at Cisco Systems. Tom is credited for the development of the 7200/7300 routing and other advanced technology platforms. Previously, Tom was the Founder, President & CEO of AYR Networks, Inc., a company dedicated to developing open source software for high-end routers and switches. AYR was later acquired by Cisco Systems in October 2002, and subsequent to its merger Tom championed the integration of AYR and Cisco's IOS technologies. Previously, Tom was Director of Engineering at Cisco Systems and is credited with leading the development of key innovations in NetFlow Switching and Data Export, Cisco Express Forwarding (CEF), Distributed QoS, Parallel Express Forwarding Processor (PXF/Toaster), 7600 Optical Service Module (OSM), and the 7500 Versatile Interface Processor (VIP). Previously, Tom had spent a number of years in R&D and engineering management positions with Hitachi Computer Products, Pitney Bowes, and Sperry. Tom holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Connecticut. |
