Tom Georgens is the executive vice president and general manager of Enterprise Storage Systems at Network Appliance. Georgens is responsible for overseeing the core storage systems business, which includes the FAS and NearStore systems. Georgens joined NetApp in 2005 from Engenio, a subsidiary of LSI Logic, where he spent nine years. In 2004 he was named the CEO of Engenio and led the company as LSI Logic prepared to make it an independent company. During his first seven years at Engenio, Georgens helped to build the business into a successful OEM storage provider for companies such as IBM, Sun Microsystems, Silicon Graphics, and NCR. Prior to his time at Engenio, Georgens spent 11 years at EMC in a variety of engineering and marketing positions. His career began at Data General as an ASIC designer for the company's 32-bit architecture. Georgens holds a bachelor of science degree and a master of engineering degree in computer and systems engineering from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute as well as a master of business administration degree from Babson College. |
