Thomas M. Mobley, Jr., Senior Vice President of Convention Centers, is one of the most recognized and respected names in the field of convention center management. Mobley has worked in the country's largest convention center, the 2.6-million sq. ft. McCormick Place, in Chicago, IL, as well as several mid-size convention centers in Jacksonville, FL, and Baltimore, MD and most recently as General Manager at the Washington Convention Center Authority in Washington, DC, a 725,000-sq. ft. facility. As the Director of the Division of Theatres and Arenas for Denver, CO, from 1988-92, Mobley oversaw the 300,000-sq. ft. Colorado Convention Center, the 100,000-sq. ft. Currigan Exhibition Hall, as well as the 19,000-seat McNichols Arena, the 11,500-seat Denver Coliseum and the 9,000-seat Red Rocks Amphitheatre. He also was Executive Director of the Jacksonville (FL) Convention Complex from 1984-1988 and the Executive Director of the Baltimore (MD) Convention Center from 1981-84. From Global Spectrum’s Washington D.C. office, Mobley will work closely with our Corporate Headquarters in Philadelphia to maximize the operation of our existing convention center facilities, staff and contribute additional support in luring events and attractions to our convention centers. Mobley serves as Chairman of the Board of the Convention Industry Council. He is also a Member of the Board of Directors of the Professional Convention Management Association Foundation and a former Chairman of the Board and Treasurer of Center for Exhibition Industry Research. Other affiliations include the American Society of Association Executives; Exhibition Services Contractors Association; Exhibitor Appointed Contractors Association; International Association of Exposition Managers; Professional Convention Management Association and Tradeshow Exhibitors Association. Mobley received a BA from Johns Hopkins University in 1968 and did his graduate study in human development at the University of Maryland (1970-72). |
