Dr. Golub serves as Chairman of Avalon's Scientific Advisory Board. He is the Founding Director of the Cancer Program at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT, is the Charles A. Dana Investigator at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School, and is an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Dr. Golub's research focuses on the use of genomic approaches to the study of cancer and the development of novel approaches to drug discovery. He serves on numerous national committees, including the National Cancer Institute's Board of Scientific Advisors. He has also served as a key advisor to several successful biotech and pharmaceutical companies including Avalon Pharmaceuticals, CombinatoRx, Infinity Pharmaceuticals, and Merck. He is the recipient of multiple awards including the award for outstanding achievement from the American Association for Cancer Research, the Daland Prize of the American Philosophical Society, and Discover Magazine's Inventor of the Year (Health Category). Dr. Golub received holds a B.A. from Carleton College, an M.D. from the University of Chicago, and was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School. |
