Dr. Linsenmeyer is one of only two physicians in the country who is double-boarded in urology and physical medicine and rehabilitation. He received board certification in physical medicine and rehabilitation in 1990 and in urology in 1986 with a recertification in 1994.
Dr. Linsenmeyer, who joined Kessler in 1989 as the Director of Urology, treats patients with a variety of urologic conditions and provides special services for male infertility and sexual dysfunction following spinal cord injury (SCI). He is actively involved in research on male infertility following acute and chronic SCI, urodynamics/voiding dysfunction, urinary incontinence, and prevention of bladder stones. In 1991 and 1996, he worked on SCI fertility research for the National Institute of Health.
He has received many awards and honors for scientific research including those from Tripler Army Medical Center, the American College of Surgeons, and the American Spinal Cord Injury Association. He is currently conducting research on neurogenic bladder through funding from the Department of Veterans Affairs - Division of Rehabilitation Medicine and Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association.
A board member since 1993, Dr. Linsenmeyer is currently the President Elect of the American Paraplegia Society. He is on the Grant Review Board of the Department of Veterans Affairs-Rehab Division. He is also a member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America Spinal Cord Research Foundation, the Steering Committee of the Spinal Cord Consortium and of the Scientific Advisory Board, and is active in the American Spinal Cord Injury Association.
Nationally recognized for his work in this field, Dr. Linsenmeyer has prepared over 65 medical presentations and has authored and co-authored numerous articles, book chapters and abstracts. He has reported to the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine National Task Force on Sexuality and Disability, the Center for Disease Control, the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation, and the Consortium for Spinal Cord Medicine. |
